MIGRATION - E tui, sesi de chine? 8

In previous bet (just to give a tone to our soap opera story) we talked about the erotic source Tespiadi. But the forty children of Heracles who came to colonize Sardinia were not alone.
They were accompanied by a hero who is not among the most famous, because, ahilui!, Often found himself a champion of the shoulder: the shoulder or just amateur quell'Eracle infinite capacity (which we hope has remained Sardinian heritage his descendants ... even today).

The hero Iolaus, son of Iphicles, the brother of Heracles himself. In

parody that makes Sam Raimi in the TV series "Hercules," one of the recurring gag is that everyone knows Hercules \\ Hercules, Iolaus and nobody remembers.
Yet there is no episode in which the expressionless Kevin Sorbo (Hercules, in fact) is joined by his equally curly-haired companion blank (the actor Michael Hurst).
In "reality" of the myth, Iolaus does not appear immediately. It could not be otherwise: Heracles and Iphicles were twins (although Iphicles was mortal and divine Heracles). So we had to wait for the least gifted of the two erotically (Iphicles, in fact) to reach the right age to be able to generate as much as the nephew of his uncle's daughter along with Automedusa Alcatoo.

Iolaus's career, however, was not entirely secondary. His main occupation was the charioteer of Heracles, but even in this seemingly secondary role, the young hero was able to stand out. According to myth, in fact, it was Iolaus the first winner of the race on the cart to the first Olympics of the mythical history. And the good Iolaus gave an encore in the specialty to the next games in honor of the late Pelias.

During the 12 labors of his uncle, Iolaus earned everlasting fame. Without him, for example, Heracles could never defeat the Hydra of Lerna: the story goes that every time Hercules beheaded a monster's head, neck cut two heads sticking out just as deadly!
intervened at this point just Iolaus: As soon as my uncle was cutting a head, now the nephew burned the wound with a glowing ember, thus preventing the miraculous rebirth. A whole forest was burnt, and is considered worthy of reproach those who think that the bad habit of Iolaus went to Sardi current fires.

Among the other companies 'minor' next to his uncle, took part in the campaign against Troy Iolaus, Heracles helped to lift the arms to Cycnus died, went to the Far West when confronted Heracles Geryon to steal his great herds participated in the expedition the Argonauts.

confidence in the nephew of Heracles was immense. Even when the demigod divorced his first wife Megara, he married the former wife to his nephew. The unlikely pair Iolaus \\ Megara had a daughter, Leipefile, a name which seems to mean "Love for the Abandoned" (Or, more properly, "for those who had left the tribe" ... but here you will enter into discussions on the matriarchy:-P). Some malignant
said that between Hercules and Iolaus was a loving relationship. On the contrary: that Iolaus was the love of many heroes of Greek mythology.

In any case, Uncle Iolaus repaid with loyalty and following it during the exile imposed upon Heracles by Eurystheus jealous.
So there are just so strange that he gave Heracles the task of bringing in Sardinia most Tespiadi, although it is disputed whether this was before or after the death of Heracles.
In this regard, among other things, we must not forget one important fact: Some versions see Philoctetes as the one who lit the funeral pyre of Heracles, like they say it was just THERE Iolaus ritualistic. The pyre burnt all residues from the mortal body of Hercules, thus allowing it to ascend to heaven as a god.

After the death of his uncle, Iolaus did not stop to help his cousins, the Heraclidae. According to one version, as mentioned, some of them brought to Sardinia at that time. According
other hand, returned to Greece from Sardinia when he learned that the remaining Heraclidae were threatened by Eurystheus.
Here are more hyperbolic versions of the other. The first says that Iolaus was already old when you are ready to meet Eurystheus; he also was not a young man, because it was a few days older than Hercules! But Zeus and Hebe, the divine wife of Heracles, returned for one day the youth and strength in Iola, in Modoc eh could better address the decisive battle. According to other
mythographers, Iolaus was even dead! But Heraclidae needed him, so the resurrected hero.
was how it was, Iolaus Eurystheus confronted and killed him. Then he returned to his grave (or his old age), but was revered in Sardinia for a long time.

How and why this happened, we will say in the next post.

Some small notes ...
That Iolaus participated in the expedition against Geryon and the theft of Pomi the Garden of the Hesperides, it is not surprising. It is likely that the figure of Iolaus is also merged with the figure of a hero "Western" and that Geryon is the Hesperides are connected to the West and away the most part unknown to the Greeks.
not forget that Geryon had a daughter who Eriz, merged with Mercury \\ Hermes, father of Norac, a predecessor of tespiadi in the colonization of Sardinia (and if you do not remember the events of Norac, click here! ).
Depending on the model or Tartessus Geryon ruled over the island of Eriz but not named by his daughter, but the wife of Geryon, one of the Hesperides, daughters of Atlas: the Garden of the Hesperides think it was right next to the island.

Skin Rash That Look Like Scratches

MIGRATION - E tui, sesi de chine? 7

has finally arrived in Sardinia the real bigwig colonization legendary. Or those intended to give continuity to their migration. Because if
Aristeo was a big myth, the island had only a "hit and run." (If you missed the arrival of agriculture, herding, and whatever else the city in Sardinia click here!).

The bigwig were many, were the amazing results of a sexual record which was ever seen in Greece (and the world), were recommended by dad Heracles, and were accompanied by a hero who was destined to battle for the last resurrection (or at least a miraculous rejuvenation). It came to stay. They were
Tespiadi, the sons of Heracles born to a marathon of sex, and was with them Iolaus, the favorite nephew of the greatest hero of Greece.
Their story is told by pretty well, as the Sardinians should descend from them ...

narrates the myth that Hercules was on a trip to Greece, during one of his companies. Specifically it says that, at eighteen, his first company "public" was hunting a lion which infested the Monte Cicero at Thebes. The hunt was not easy for the still young hero, and Hercules decided to put his camp in the nearby town of Tempe. Here resided Thespis, the son of an Athenian king Erechtheus, who had gone to found this city in Boeotia.
Heracles was young, but not unknown: it was rumored that already was the son of Zeus, and the fact that he strangled two snakes threatening, when he was still in the cradle, seemed to substantiate this rumor.
seemed destined for a glorious future (self-fulfilling prophecy, for that matter) and the ambitious Thespis decided to intermarry with him. The concept of "reputation for integrity of the daughters" do not worth with the being-in-law of Zeus.
Thespis is said that he had 50 daughters, all born according to the version by his wife Megamedia or by various concubines. Thespis is said King suffered a helpful and generous host. Fatigue hero who was returning after a day's shooting, offered food, wine, a bed ... and daughters. Heracles, who did not shun any of the pleasures of the flesh, he said no.

versions are different. Some say that the hunt lasted 50 days and 50 nights for a different Thespis daughter ended up in bed with Heracles. Some say that the hero was too tired from the chase, and then Heracles (which often does not shine for insight in the myths) does not recognize that the girl was different every night. But the blow never failed, if I may say so ...
Some say that the hunt lasted seven days. Here Hercules is not confused at all: despite the tiredness seven girls per night (eight special night) were filled for his tireless attention. Finally there are those who exaggerate
: irrespective of the duration of the hunt, in a single night Heracles possessed all the fifty daughters of Thespis, we do not know if in one big (forgive the expression) or stacked one after another. Faced with this challenge, maybe even John Holmes and Rocco Siffredi have dreamed (or shaken).

Regardless of the number for lovers of night, however, all the girls conceived a child by Heracles. Imagine that, nine months later, the palace of Thespis was in full activity and agitation. All the girls give birth to male children, of course (Heracles in his life would have generated only males, except one daughter), and in fact: the biggest and the smallest of the daughters of Thespis gave birth to twins. Thespis
could not be more proud. Children grew up and probably showed them all as a sign of divine favor.
the king's friendship with Heracles lasted over time: It is said that after he purged the hero, in a fit of madness sent by the jealous stepmother Hera, Heracles killed children who had to Megara.

Then one day, when her grandchildren were old enough to Thespis, the king asked his son what destiny awaits the boys: Heracles, now famous, two were allowed to reside in Thebes, seven remained in Thespis, and all other parties to the Sardinia, to colonize the island.
The forty settlers would be driven by Iolaus, the favorite nephew of Heracles, but this hero talk in the next post.

Some small notes ...
The fifty children are a must mythology. The number is the basis for a perfect number as 100 (50 +50 sons or daughters, wives or spouses = 100 in all).
We already know the 50 daughters of Danaus terrible and unfair to tie the wedding with the 50 cousins, all children of Egypt, but 50 are the Nereids of the sea and 50 daughters of Nereus will be the sons of Priam.

How Long Can I Take Ativan

MIGRATION - E tui, sesi de chine? 6

Brace. Because, finally, the big boys are coming.
Yes, the colonization of Sardinia is not only known "children." He also witnessed the arrival of "important people".
do not know if this has been an honor, but there was also this. We must simply accept.
What then behind the "big boys" is hiding interpretatio the Greek god of some other foreigner, do not know.
(If you do not know what the Greek interpretatio, migrate temporarily to our small note at the bottom and then come back!)

The first big as we have already appointed: Aristeo. Already from the name (linked to the aristos = "best", the "noble", etc..) Understand that this is not a secondary character. E 'son of Apollo and Cyrene, but not a "son of" nebulous as they are Norac and Sardo. Far from it!

Aristeo, in fact, appears in various myths, some very famous.

E 'him, for example, that chases Eurydice, wife of Orpheus, and it causes death. So Orpheus must descend into Hades to seek his beloved. Note little story, no?
E 'him the father of Actaeon, turned into a stag and torn to pieces by its own for seeing the goddess Artemis naked. But

Aristeo is above all a great "culture hero" who brings knowledge to mankind. Aristeo is a great hunter, he has to "discover" the honey for our species, humanity is he to explain various aspects of cultivation, as the olive.
And finally he is especially deadly to teach the techniques of farming and the manufacture of cheese.

That alone would be enough to plug it trivially to our island, especially if you're one of those banal contemporary believe that the most banal stereotypes about Sardinia (Sardinian are all pastors "...).

Aristeo But, I recognize mythographers Greeks, did not stop there: it was in Sardinia colonizer and founder of the city.

Alas!, There are the myths of the Phoenicians, not to mention those of Sardi themselves. So we can not know whether, under the name of greek Aristeo, there really is the father of Actaeon, or more likely some other hero of the far West that the Greeks identified with Aristeo. It was an important person, surely, of which there are testimonies of worship in the southern part of Sardinia. It is no coincidence ...

says a writer, someone believed to be Aristotle, that Sardinia, "in ancient times, was prosperous and dispenser of each product. Our writer (yes, well let's call it "Pseudo-Aristotle" as do the scholars) reports that it was said that the case could only be one: Aristeo had arrived with his wealth of knowledge ("Women! It 's got 'grinder! ") in otherwise civilized lands backward.
According to the fragments of Sallust, that sometimes we have mentioned, the route taken by Aristeo was: tormented by the death of Actaeon, his mother advises him to leave Thebes in Greece and look elsewhere. Before you go Crete (then uninhabited), Daedalus and then meets with him to get to Sardinia.
Silio Italico causes stresses and the travel destination. But

mythographers and historians do not always agree on versions. If you remember (if I do not remember, click here !) Crete at that time was not so mythical depopulated. Indeed, he was a naval power. It did not leave a Crete that Daedalus was coming, but fled from Minos, he disappointed in several ways. A Minos who had reigned for years after inheriting the throne of Crete by his stepfather.

short, according to various sources, Sallust had been mistaken. But the strange thing is
I serve, the famous commentator of Virgil, refers precisely to a passage in Sallust, Crete and the island is not uninhabited, but CEO.

The Sicilian Diodorus, it corrects the shot. The path Aristeo was more articulate. First stop in a CEO (which leaves some descending), then go in the Libya (we imagine in the region of Cyrene, which he dedicated to mothers?) And finally arrives in Sardinia. This
Agha Khan of high times is the beautiful island ... and colonization. So is being done to improve it: plantations and crops rise thanks to his work, and are flourishing. So much so that his two sons were born here: Carmo and Callicarpa. "Callicarpa" means "beautiful fruit ", and" Carmo "is linked to the word meaning" joy, joy. "
I'm not certain names from agriculture in crisis! However, our
Istance eore (cultural) did not stop there, but moved to "other" islands, finally arriving in Sicily. What are the islands touched on this trip we do not know, but just say that it was the Egadi, it seems a bit 'reductive.

Yes, but when he got Aristeo? In that position he finished in this race between those who wanted to colonize Sardinia?
pluricitata Our source, not the tourist-by-case Pausanias, is a bit 'summary of the opinions and reasoning on it. Even in his Aristeo partly due to the pain of the death of Actaeon and arrives in Sardinia after the Libyans (Sardo). Pausanias
dispute that has come with Daedalus (fleeing from the Cretans, in one of the sources consulted by our visitors writer), in chronological questions: Aristeo lived in Thebes in Boeotia at the time of the sons of Cadmus, Daedalus at the time of Oedipus, after a few generations. So the time has not come back.
(cadmium, immigrant and founder of the famous city, we'll talk again ...) there was or was not
Daedalus, Pausanias is sure: Aristeo introduced agriculture in Sardinia, but not established cities. In fact, both in the number of settlers as "work force" was not in this shipment able to build one.

And here there is no agreement. Solino (III century AD), in fact, as we have said elsewhere, said Aristeo founded Karalis, and unifies them Libi (Sardo) and Iberia (of Norac) that previously refused any authority.

Once again the puzzle of the mythical origins of the inhabitants of Sardinia appears contradictory. When he arrived
Aristeo? Came before or after the other? Who accompanied him? Karalis founded or not?
The answer may have been told in comic form. Also on our service, in fact, tells us that Daedalus stopped in Sardinia, then reached Cumae in Campania, and he founded the famous Temple of Apollo where Enea also made a stop on the road with his Trojans.
Here, on the doors of the temple, he painted the steps of his journey.

But what would Daedalus in Sardinia (and even some of the Trojans detour on the island), we'll talk again.

Some small notes
A site that collects the various versions of the myth of Aristeo in Sardinia can be found here .

interpretatio What is Greek? Our Greek friends were in the habit of believing to have invented their own, and that they were the only ones talking greek. So, in anticipation of centuries Christians who converted pagan gods into saints, even the Greeks "interpretation" of gods and heroes of other people as "bad translation" and "misunderstanding" of gods and heroes of Greece. A sort of cultural colonialism. So
Melqart Phoenician, for some of its characteristics was considered equivalent to Hercules, Amon \\ Ammon was identified with Zeus, and so on.
So it is not unlikely that the name of Aristeo son of Apollo, tied to Boeotia and Arcadia, was superimposed on some hero (or god) African Phoenician, Sardinia or whatever, with whom he shared the link with agriculture and pastoralism.

No Birthday Present Pay For Meal Wording

authoritative definition - Myths modern

Sergei Luk'janenko is the Russian author who revolutionized the world of Fantasy saga with his Guardian. The idea is simple: almost all the mythical creatures, whether they be good or bad, really exist. They are the "Others", created by humans but fundamentally different. They are divided into two camps: the forces of Darkness and the Light forces, fighting an endless war. Although, in reality, an updated version of the Cold War, have reached a status quo: They plan, plot, you check each other, but basically neither side can prevail over the other.
In one of the tales that make up the volume "The Guardians of the Dusk", a powerful character is killed. It is killed in a way that seems for an even more unlikely. So while we talk about books for these mythical mythical beings, is an interesting dialogue ...

- In the intelligence we have our agents - Edgar retorted. - But if it was that the resumption of research and that there was a leak, Vitezslav's death remains a mystery. No James Bond would be able to approach him without being noticed.
- Who is James Bond? - Zavulon churches.
- Part of the mythology - Geser explained. - Mythology today.

Patch For Heartgold U

MIGRATION - E tui, sesi de chine? 5

Before cheap flights to Barcelona Cagliari. Before the Erasmus. Before the fleet of Cardinal Alberoni. Before the Viceroy many predators. Before Pedro de Luna and Martin junior.
Before them there were the Balari mercenaries, and even before Norac, Norax or if you prefer. Why
to move from the Iberian Peninsula and conquer Sardinia, distance has never been too much.

But from the first Iberian soil Sardinian Norac.

The Roman historian Sallust in a fragment tells us that Norac was the son of Hermes and Eritehia, daughter of Geryon.
Which is like saying that Norac was from the West, from Iberia. Why Geryon the three bodies, the fact Heracles out because their herds were not too good to be stolen, before ending up in Dante's Inferno, was a king of the land where the sun goes down.
In fact, according Solino (III century AD), Norac and his left from Tartessus in the area of the Cadiz. The usual

Pausanias (second century AD) adds that the Iberians arrived in Sardinia after Aristeo. Some may argue that maybe we should talk about Aristeo first to tell the Iberians, but we will see that the matter is more complex than it seems.
Anyway, Pausanias says that, with imagination, Norac gave his name to the town of Nora. And in most states that this was the first city of the island.
If we remember that the previous inhabitants as happened often lived in huts and caves, the arrival of the English (first and last time in the troubled history of Sardinia) coincided with an increase.

So, thanks to Norac was founded the first city.
But the island's environment, even then, no one would deny that success, alas English: the famous definition that sees as Sardis "pocos, locos y unidos mal."
"Locos" (crazy) do not know, really. But they were "ill-unidos" (disunited) was not something he doubted. Among the Iberians and Libyans Nora arrived earlier under the guidance Sardo there were conflicts.
To remedy the situation we wanted to, if not a miracle, at least a demigod. Indeed Solino always tells us that reigned Aristeo not far from Nora, which he founded in the Cagliari.
In the new town, destined to be the most important of Sardinia, the son of Apollo would have merged the Libyan tribes (bring on the island of Sardinia) and the Iberian (capacities from Norac): These people, although there were not accustomed to, accepted willingly his government.
But if the conflict were already there before the birth of Cagliari, the question that is Aristeo could come at a time after the arrival of the Iberians is at least legitimate. Since

here the news on the colonization of the south of Sardinia by the Iberians.

But if we talk about the center and north of the island, the matter becomes more complex, and the Iberians in comeback game.

The great naturalist Pliny the Elder, before he died of the ashes of Vesuvius, wrote that the most famous people of Sardinia were the Ilies, the Balari and courses. Of course we said, we will speak of Ilies, Balari of us have to deal with now.
Why the name too reminiscent of the Balearic Islands, intermediate between the Iberian Peninsula and Sardinia.
And what was the name of Iberian origin, or at least related to that area, there is also confirmed by Silius Italico. The poet at some point of his work speaks of Vettonia, inhabitants of Lusitania (now Portugal) and Cantabria (north-west Spain): well, he said their leader was called Balar.

But what relationship existed between the Iberians and Balari?
First, the sources seem to favor the subsequent arrival of a Balari: an arrival in historical, not mythical, in fact. When Nora was in a town of some commercial and political relations with the Carthaginians.
Yet another fragment of Sallust tells us that the courses allocated to Sardinia Balari believed the refugees' Pallantei "(whatever that means), but others were from the army or Hispanic Numidians Carthaginian.
Again Pausanias confirms (or returns?) As told by Sallust. According to him it was African or Iberian in the pay of Carthage. At some point, these mercenaries were fighting with the Phoenician city to issue its own money. So deserted and fled to the mountains of Sardinia.
seems to infer that the courses as "Balari" meant "deserter" (or perhaps "exile"), and since then the name stuck to that population.

Balari That the people were not trusted in the Roman world seems to intuit some sources: Sallust says that they were changing people's mind, shifty-eyed for fear of the allies, dark clothing. Cicerone will speak at Sardis "mastrucati," that is covered with leather.

Strabo, a geographer who lived between the first century BC and first century AD, it has a great review. It tells them that dwell in caves (a constant Sardinian home, apparently ...). He adds that even if they had some arable land, did not bother to put it to good use, rather, preferring to plunder the profits of those who worked, even coming to rob the inhabitants of the area Tuscany.

Livy tells the story of Sardinia, just conquered by the Romans. Against the new rulers, and Ilies Balari formed an alliance and attacked the "pacatam provinciam" (Pacified the province).
It was not an easy fight, and when Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus led Rome's legions in the territory Ilies, the Balari sent large reinforcements.
But Rome, for the moment, prevailed. When

then Ilies rebelled again in Rome during the Second Punic War, at the decisive moment their leader tried to recruit troops Ampsicora between Sardis Pellati. These are
Sardi mastruccati mentioned by Cicero? Balari predators?

Whatever happens, even the Ampsicora uprising ended badly, and Ilies Balari had to give up and drive the Romans.

Some small notes ...
Leaving the myth and entering the History (and disputes) can not fail to mention the famous Stele of Nora, pictured above. Written in archaic Phoenician alphabet, his translation (and interpretation) is discussed: the version of epigraphy "official" (interpretation of Moore-Cross, 1984) speaks of its settlers from Tarshish (= Tartessus?) Arriving in land of Sardi ... But the name of the leader is not alas, one of Norac: Milkaton this would be a dedication by the son of subn.
Obviously the stele, spoiled and hard to read, also has several interpretations (so much so that "son of Milkaton subn" becomes "Sb 'son Milkaton "...).
If we want to accept the theories of some "Independent researchers (STI)" the translation is virtually impossible, because, although written in Phoenician characters, the words would be speaking ... Shardana

Both scholia to Dionysius, is Eustathio confirm that the Iberians came before Heraclidae , who killed the children of quell'Eracle grandfather Norac.
But more about that in a future post.

Pokemon Scizor Nickname

MIGRATION - E tui, sesi de chine? 4

And finally, we first and last names. Or rather, we begin to make Sardinia his name.

To do this we must start with a derby-Torres Cagliari a few decades ago. On the one hand, the choruses were "Tathari delenda", "Zola back fold "and the much more famous" The other night \\ walking down the street. " Across the cry "Cagliaritani Africans."
Well, I do not know if the fans were right rossoblu (Casteddu of the original, of course). Certainly the cabesusesi Torresini were not wrong. Why mythically the Sardinians have come (also) from Africa.
fact: the name of Sardinia is derived from a demigod African
... But let's order. The usual

Pausanias (not Temple), in fact, tells us that the first to reach the island by sea were the Libyans, led by Sardo. The island was already inhabited by indigenous people but, as mentioned, very little we know them. As for courses, Pausanias neglect them here.
Time: Libya antiquity was a concept large enough. Let's say, more or less, was present throughout the Mediterranean Africa, excluding the area of Carthage (Africa itself), the Mauretania (present Morocco and Algeria) and Egypt. The origin of these Libi, then, is not easily definable. A
this does not help us the story of Sardo: Pausanias tells us only that he was the son of Makeris (Egyptian name for Heracles and books, according to the author) and made a trip to Delphi. If this trip to the famous oracle of antiquity took place before or after he landed in Sardinia is unknown. But we can remember that in ancient times less mythical and historical, who was going to found a colony on his way to Delphi for directions, perhaps even Sardo did the same and went from the Pythia before migrating.

Pausanias adds that the natives of the island welcomed the Libi "needed the most for that purpose" and that Libi not expelled the natives themselves. A fragment of the Roman historian Sallust tells us that Sardo departed from Libya "with a great multitude" Perhaps the Indians were unable to counter this "multitude" and submitted themselves, merging with the new arrivals.
ensure that Pausanias, however, life did not change much after the establishment of Libi: both the people did not know how to build cities, but lived in huts and caves as well as they could.

Even Pausanias and Sallust tells us that Sardo was to give the new name to the island: Sardinia Sardinia, in fact.
We do not know, however, what was the name given to our land from the natives, but we have a wide choice of names sound greek.
Silio Italico tells us that the island was called by the Greeks Ichnusa, since it has the form of a human foot, and that that name was before the arrival of Sardo. The name is largely confirmed by the late Isidore of Seville, who knows how Ichnos.
Martian Capella, however, as well as original proposed Ichnussa Sandaliotes alternative name, the word for "sandal" and then again in relation to the shape of a foot on the island.
drains the Timaeus Plato says that the original name was Argyrofleps!

The fact that the island got its current name, which Ichnussa remained as the name for a drink and that Libi was settled.

Centuries later, and now we are in historic times, according to Pausanias, the Libyans made a second expedition in Sardinia. This time they were well armed (presumably this is Carthaginians) and attacked the inhabitants of the island Greeks and Trojans. Libi
I won both, but the outcomes for the people attacked were different. The Hellenes \\ Iole, in fact, were almost all annihilated. The Trojans, however, fled to the mountains and more difficult to access due to the roughness of the place and the defensive works, resisted the invader.
Thus, while Libi resemble in appearance, armor and every way of life, they managed to remain independent under the name of Ille. But settlers

Greeks and Trojans we will talk in some future posts.

few small note for non-islanders ...
"Casteddu", the "Castle" is the name of Sardinia Cagliari.

"Cabesusesu" (plural "Cabesusesi") is an inhabitant of "cab'e susu," the "Cape of above, the old administrative district of Spain, which corresponds roughly to the provinces of Sassari and Olbia-Tempio. To identify metonymy the inhabitants of Sassari. The provincial capital

Temple is actually called Tempio, hence the joke above ... The capital is not otherwise come into the myth, if not for his licentious carnival.

Paul Deacon (VIII DC) proposes an alternative name for Sardo: Sarde calls or Sardis, the son of Hercules (clerical error?). He also confirmed that the island's name was derived from him. He adds that the name of the island near-twin (Corsica) comes from Corso, a local leader.

How Come Black People Have Yellow Eyes

MIGRATION - E tui, sesi de chine? 3

Sardinia as the crossroads of the Mediterranean peoples. Not a slogan from modern tourism, but the "reality" of ancient myth, as we shall see.
We mentioned to the natives, from who knows where. Original inhabitants of Sardinia, or perhaps generic label to indicate "who was already telling the story of a new migration."
Today we start naming names and surnames, although only of peoples and, yet, of heroes. Or maybe yes. In
rigid geographical completely random, we'll talk about immigration that reached the Sardinia from north.

Pliny the Elder tells us that the most famous people of the Sardinia (excluding Roman Punic and Phoenician settlers) were the Ilies, the Balari and courses. And from this side.

The island of Corsica is not very far from Sardinia. On the contrary: there is practically attacked. Corsica was named by its inhabitants (the ligues, Pausanias tells us), while the Greeks called Cirne. For Paul Deacon (historic eighth century AD) was named Corsica Corso, one of his captains, while Sardinia by a son of Hercules.
The fact is that (yet Pausanias dixit) of the courses moved to Sardinia and occupied a portion of the island mountains. It is unclear why the author says that these immigrants received by the natives as Course: Not if they are brought home by themselves?

ligues But who were these? The name is greek for a people which the Romans called Ligures, the Ligurian, settled on the shores of the Ligurian Sea in an area that from Liguria (vivid imagination!) Reaching up to the Rhone. Even today we have been discussing whether a pre-Indo-European population, or rather akin to the Celts and Umbria.
Diodorus, another tipaccio we have already known and often end up on this post, tells us that the merchants were the Ligurian sailors bold. On boats, according to the Sicilians, were worse and a raft of boats that had almost nothing to address in the storms of the amazing Sea of Sardinia and that of Libya.
Zonaras, a medieval Byzantine historian, tells us that during the uprising against the Romans in Sardinia, in addition to courses rose several times even the Ligurian.
At this point we have to imagine that, despite the poor boats, the Ligurian had allocated in Sardinia. The logic is: if you sailed to Libya, Sardinia was a staging point forced between their points of departure and arrival. If we had called to Corsica, perhaps those descended from their courses migrated to Sardinia. In the narrative of the revolt
Zonaras gives us one of the most tragic pages of Sardinian history: as the Roman raids did not get almost nothing because the rebels were hiding in forests and caves, the Roman general Pomponio was made to send sniffer dogs from Rome. Equipped with these "weapons" the Romans managed to track down opponents, killing many and forcing the survivors to surrender.

So far these two peoples.
But a legendary name in there we can already give this post: is that of Force, one of the "Old Sea" of Greek mythology, along with ocean, to Nereus and Proteus.
second serves, in what a follower of Evemero, King of Corsica and Sardinia was once just Force. We do not know if Servius meant that both islands were united, or simply that Forco was the king of the courses allocated on both sides of the Strait of Bonifacio. However
Forco Atlas faced in battle and his army was a disaster. The king of course it was defeated at sea and on land.
Now Forco disappeared, and his friends thought it was now a sea goddess.

become a king god: not bad for a people whom the Romans (quoting a great poet and singer, he immigrated to Liguria Sardinia) hunted game like it was!

Shower Rods Over 72 Inches

Focus on: ROCKIN 'ROADS!

I knew he disappeared for two months! I'm just an idiot!
It 'still a sweet return, since I am here to introduce my new work: it is called ROCKIN' ROADS is designed by Giulio Argan and exit at Lucca for this year's Tunué.
The graphic novel is about this boy named David - but by all NoDave called because of its extreme intransigence, character and music - that leaves behind a troubled past and moved to Rome, where a university student does not combine much. He joined the metal band Deconstruction, however, playing the guitar and live a beautiful love story with Another musician, Antonella.
Life seems to throw into the breach, and all things seem directed toward a single goal: the creation of his most important dreams. That is, until
from the past that - basically - he has never been abandoned and whose shadow is projected onto any of its choice does not make his return to Tea, the person who, years earlier, had marked his life, for better or for worse , making him what he is now.
This sudden and unexpected return has devastating effects on the lives of NoDave and paradoxically, those that orbit in a distorted sort of domino effect.

This presentation:
Rockin 'Roads talk about rock music, choices, the desire to realize their dreams, but also the importance that can have its own past in making some decisions and the courage of not being influenced by it. In the background, lots of references to rock music and heavy metal, as a heartfelt tribute to this genre and this movement. The book is aimed at those who love the graphic novel introspective, as well as - of course - who is fond of the various branches of extreme rock.

Menstral Cramping At 40 Weeks

MIGRATION - E tui, sesi de chine? 2

We told you that the Sardinians were a bit of myth 'from every corner of the Mediterranean. A small correction, however, requires: someone who came from nowhere, there was already the first of all. Maybe
ticked off the ground like a tree bent by the mistral wind.

Pausanias, the second tourist in history (the first was his majesty the sparaballe Herodotus, of course) tells us that in Sardinia there were some natives: they were the first inhabitants of the island of Libyan, Phoenician, Geci and whatever ' others came later. And they were different from them.
say that Pausanias rather than say what they were and what they knew to do, speaks in the negative. That is, he says he does not know what name the natives had given Sardinia. Who could not build cities, but lived as happened in caves and hovels. That Libi (Pausanias to the first "new arrivals" on the island) do not drive them out. That the natives did not like the Libi but they were too weak to be able to reject them.
And finally: The Indigenous were subjected to a new invasion from some of the inhabitants of Corsica. Were themselves (the natives) to call the newcomers Courses: These were one of the three major lineages sardines legendary (and historical) together with Balari and unharmed. The

Diodorus Siculus adds little to the history of Indigenous Peoples. Maybe talking about them mixed with the Libyans arrived later, we do not know. It tells us, however, that Iolaus, the nephew of Heracles and mythical conqueror of Sardinia at the helm of his cousins Tespiadi, defeated them in battle, and he divided the island among his proteges. Another note
spread is given when speaking of the revolt of the Libyans (African, Libi not the immigrants in Sardinia) against Carthage: it says that the natives of the island tried to take advantage of the revolt to free themselves from the Phoenicians.
are the same Indians in Pausanias tells us? O inhabitants of Sardinia are generally the Carthaginians, who were not? From the limited information of Diodorus we can not solve the riddle. However, the Nationalists resign islanders: the Carthaginians defeated the rebels soon in Africa and then reoccupied Sardinia.

End of news on Indigenous Peoples.
Some 'little, sure. Little news and lots of doubts.
Who were the natives? They were native-born spontaneously from Mother Earth? Or is it simply a definition of convenience to indicate a mythical people before the invasion? Or, better yet, the people who were on the island before the invasion is told that from time to time?
The mystery remains.
What is certain that, in a fairly typical, the residents receive "outside" civilization (build cities, for example). And who's first is subject to those arriving later.
and Sardinia, "after", it came very much. A small note

thank prof. Ugas for providing me with the classical sources that is the subject of mythical colonization of Sardinia. And 'obviously clear that everything appearing in these posts is exclusively the result of my interpretations (and my evil).

Earring To Match Champagne Dress

MIGRATION - E tui, sesi de chine? 1

There are ancient myths, are modern myths. The first stems from the stories of fathers, the latter sometimes in some scientific discovery.
Thus, reinforcing the myth of the isolation of island inhabitants of the island of Sardinia, from time to time check out our territory in which there are genetically homogeneous areas, buildings and old. Great to make us a mapping of DNA.

In short, the Sardinians are also genetically different from others. Speaking as an ancient myth, we could say that we are indigenous, born from the Earth Mother, and never mixed with other people.
I say "we" as Sardinian, although my family seems to be the original "the continent" even came to Sardinia in ancient eras defined as less ... However

: giving heed to the DNA of Ogliastra, he is quite right the "Aunt Mary" is in every country, which, before the arrival of a stranger in the village square, it breaks down, and invariably asks " And tui, de chinisesi? ". That is: "Who you are (son)?".
implying: "If you came here, in this island, you are a returning emigrant, you can not be a stranger. In Sardinia there are and will only pass the Sardinians (with the exclusion of the police officers and nobles exploiters).
modern myths, in fact.

Because in ancient myth, Sardinia, an island in the middle of the Mediterranean West, was a "seaport" (you pardon the pun), as its location and its wealth implied.
The population was still considered a very mixed origin: not less than thirteen peoples have given rise to Sardis! An island that, at the time of law, received a land settlers today and one tomorrow. And not all the myths of antiquity hidden behind the appearance of an alleged rule recently.
In the face of genetic continuity and isolation ... This series

Post wants to lead the "continental" and also to find out where the Sardinians, as the classical myth, was the Sardinians.
But do not be afraid: if you fear alien origin, or Atlantean Shardana \\ people of Dan and more ... Well, these are modern myths that we will see again. A small note

According to other modern myths, the Sardinians were all unfailingly stubborn, hospitable, pastors, closed in the countries of the Interior, Terragni and sailors, unable to speak without doubling the consonants ...
Worse, some thirty years ago there was the myth that all the Sardinians were kidnappers. A vision
much to 'outsiders', to tell the truth!
Of course, even among the people of my island there are those who imply that "real Sardinian" are only those with a sort of "pure blood" traditionalist (pastor, friendly, stubborn, etc.. Etc.) Reserved for those who live in mountains of the interior. But if we analyze the information document of history and not a priori belief (the word "myths" Understanding in the negative, in fact), this is a tradition that has always had value not only for a major portion of the island population.

The only "belief" that has scientific value is that in Sardinia
is a high percentage of centenarians. We should not worry too much, however: it also increases pollution from us, and the data on longevity may soon become just another myth ...

Driver Licence Number Generator

MIGRATION - Corna, lies, perjury and 4 courts

We have told the birth, rise, loves and conquests of that liar named Minos. Today we'll tell you its sunset and its purpose.

Minos, son of Zeus, reigned supreme in Crete (country of liars), with two worries: the white bull which had inadvertently become the lover of his wife, and the Minotaur, the fruit of this foul union. Mind the latter was closed in the Labyrinth built by Daedalus, the first wild and uncontrollable ran around the whole island.
Perhaps mindful of the fact that the bull was a gift from Poseidon, and the dire consequences of having kept alive, Minos did little to capture the beast.
However, the king did not object when his brother arrived in Crete Heracles (Hercules, in the Latin), another demi-god son of one of the many worldly adventures of Zeus. Heracles had to fulfill one of his labors capturing the bull and put it in the court of Eurystheus of Mycenae: Minos gave him the green light, strong man and the hero did not fail the enterprise, capturing the bull and wearing on the continent.

On the question of the Minotaur, Minos saw him unexpectedly resolved by the Athenian Theseus, son of Aegeus, king of Athens (Or, according to others, of Poseidon the sea god).
As you may recall, the Athenians were defeated by Minos, and forced to pay a ruthless toll: each year, Crete had to send seven boys and seven girls were virgins who serve as food for the Minotaur.
Also that year the ship arrived in Athens, but Theseus was one of seven children, already famous for having wiped out the breed of ruffians and murderers who rule the roost across the Isthmus of Corinth.
arrival of the ship, Minos behaved like his usual: one of the girls caught his attention, and the king would take advantage on the spot. Theseus
opposed, proclaiming himself the son of Poseidon. Minos, once time rather blasphemous and disrespectful to the god of the sea, first ventured to say that God certainly did not comply with the girls that liked them. Then he challenged Theseus to prove his divine origin: the king threw a ring into the sea and said he would have recognized as Theseus son of Poseidon if the Athenians had brought the jewel.
Theseus, who did not bend to anyone, said he would do it only after Minos had proved to be the son of Zeus. The boy was cheeky, but Minos could not accept a challenge to his house, he called Zeus, and straightway the father sent a lightning and thunder.
We can imagine the satisfied grin of Minos when turned to Theseus, but the young man had already dipped: a group of dolphins led the hero to the palace of the Nereids and there Teti (according to others it was Amphitrite) gave Theseus the ring and a jeweled crown, wedding gift Aphrodite.

When the hero emerged, Minos was forced to bite the bullet, but someone else noticed the boy was Ariadne, the young daughter of the king.
The girl in the night, came secretly to the room where Theseus rested waiting to be taken to the Labyrinth. Arianna brought with him two gifts for the hero: a sword to kill the Minotaur and a magic ball of thread, a gift of Daedalus, to find their way out of the maze. In return, Theseus gave him the crown, and promised to take her and marry her.

Theseus performed the enterprise: he killed the Minotaur, rescued his companions and fled with Ariadne from Crete. Minos did not take it, but eventually reconciled with Theseus, that has become king of Athens: the young man had stolen a child (Theseus then abandoned by order of Dionysius), but had eliminated the hassle and shame of the Minotaur . To seal this peace, Minos gave her another daughter to Theseus, Phaedra: even this union, however, was not lucky.

But there was another Athenian that Minos had its intention to forgive: the inventor Daedalus. Some say that Daedalus had been closed in the Maze after having allowed the union between Pasiphae, the wife of Minos, and the bull. If it did not happen at that time, surely it was then that Minos imprisoned Daedalus in the Labyrinth, and his son Icarus, as a reward for having given the magic ball to Ariadne. But
Daedalus created the wings with feathers and wax them with the inventor and his son escaped from the Maze.

Minos went out of the grace of God: Daedalus wanted revenge!
did not know that the Athenian had already been punished for disobeying orders of his father Daedalus, Icarus had flown too close to the sun above, and the heat had melted the wax of the wings.

The poor boy fell into the sea, where he met his death, while his father came to an end in Sicily at the court of Cocalo, king of shirts. Those fees and the games ... great monuments to the king's daughters.

Minos organized his fleet and sailed to the west. But as Stan
the ingenious inventor?
Minos was a perjurer and a liar, but was no fool: he knew that Daedalus would not have survived a challenge that only he could solve. So the king, landed anywhere, showed a shell of Triton, and promised a great reward to those who had been able to get us through a linen thread.
Cocalo proposed the challenge to its inventor, Daedalus, and he succeeded brilliantly, as usual: he made a hole in the shell, and poured in the honey, then picked up an ant and tied them around a thin wire, then let in the el'insetto ant hole, eating the honey, crossed the entire shell. Finally Daedalus fastened to a linen thread attached to the thin end of the wire ant ... and the game was done.

Cocalo went to claim the prize, and Minos was a bad payer as usual: rather than pay as promised, made his big voice and demanded the surrender of Daedalus, the only man capable of making the enterprise. We do not know if Cocalo, seeing the Cretan fleet, has surrendered at once, but his daughters did not agree: never ever gave up the one who invented the game for them so beautiful. So
plotted with Daedalus: While Minos was enjoying a warm bath, through a tube hidden Daedalus brought down the king boiling water, or according to other pitch. The fact is that the king of Crete we stayed dry instantly.
But his story would last even nell'aldià ...

fact, dead in her bathtub more than Marat, Minos, treacherous, lying, wicked, and horned cornificatore ended his mortal career based on lies and bulls, and began a new, far more rewarding: ended the Underworld ... with the role of judge of the dead, because they recognized him as one of the most righteous among men. Given the curriculum of Minos, one wonders what the level of morality of others!
At his side, in the court of hell sat brother Rhadamanthus, now reconciled, and Aiakos, once its rival.

There, centuries later, find him during his mystical journey Dante Alighieri. But little remains of the royal Minos, a roaring bull-headed beast, with a large serpentine queue that wraps around itself, giving the sinner the circle which it is intended.

Coming Soon ...

Our description Migration continues!
We take a break from Greece, where Cadmus, brother of Europe, would have caused a stir, and we will follow Daedalus: continuing to migrate to the West, the inventor, left Sicily, arrived in Sardinia. Here began the service of other famous emigrants \\ immigrants, the sons of Heracles and daughters of Thespis, or the Tespiadi. And to their factory
... But more about that in another post, the first of a series dedicated to the legendary settlers of Sardinia.

Some small notes ... The bull
Crete captured by Heracles was set free by King Eurystheus. The beast fled across the Isthmus of Corinth came to the plain of Marathon, Attica. Here Theseus killed him, according to some mythographers before the journey of Theseus in Crete.

According to the charge of fourteen children should not be sent every year, but every nine years, ie at the end of a Great Year.

The myth of Icarus finds a match in a myth of the Zuni Indians. One of them tells of a young man in love with female eagle who had reared, and released her, tramutatosi to turn into a bird, followed her to the Turquoise Mountain. Here was given a dress to the young eagle, but also the admonition not to fly beyond the chain of mountains that you could see horizon. But one day, while flying, the young man was seized with a feeling of power that violated the ban, passed the chain saw and the city of the dead. After various events, as happened to Icarus, the young man was also ripped the dress eagle and the boy fell crashing to the ground.

Increased Urination During Menstruation

MIGRATION - Corna, lies, perjury and three courts

We talked about the bizarre Minos and his amatory conquests and his wife.
Now we will talk of his wartime achievements, and found that even here we find the mix of animal magnetism and ruthlessness in making promises: the characteristics of our Minos, in fact.

Minos was a great leader, when the Athenians killed treacherously Androgeus his son, the king of Crete led a powerful army to get revenge.
First, with his army tried to seize the Isthmus of Corinth, and in particular of Megara. This city reigned Nisus, who was invincible because of a golden hair (some say purple) that grew on his head.
While the siege continued without success, Scylla, the daughter of Nisus, he saw again and again the king of the Cretans, and suppose the victim of his animal magnetism, he fell in love. He managed to combine a secret meeting with the king and on that occasion, promised to Minos that would cut the fairy hair (and fatal) of her father, Minos promised to marry her in return.

And here again the characteristic unreliability of the king because Scilla face what he had promised, he cut the hair that is killing so Nisus and dropping the city in the hands of Crete, but Minos, however, was terrified for patricide (which ? could not horrify the time of the proposal?) and not only refused to honor the promise of marriage, but rather tied to the Scylla bow of his ship, drowning the girl.

Socket Megara, Minos besieged Athens: the gods, do not know why, they were still on the side of this perjury, and sent a plague against city. In order to avoid worse problems
the Athenians were forced to accept the harsh terms of the peace treaty: they would provide each year seven girls and seven boys, who would be conducted in the Labyrinth for the Minotaur to be nurturing ... for our king of Crete, as happened for the rest of the ancient Greeks, revenge could become a source of income, although very hot!

Back home, the life of Minos was marred by a mourning his son, the little Glauco drowned in honey, but Curetes told him not to despair: the child could be raised by the man who would know better than to describe others the color of a certain royal herds of cows that changes color three times a day (other ground beef in particular Cretan ...): it was white in the morning, then became red and finally black, the morning after the cycle began again.
The diviner's son Poliido Cerano, a native of Argos (or currants) succeeded: the cow was like the brunette, who was born white, then turns red and black when ripe.
As a reward, Poliido was locked up with the corpse of a small (perhaps in the Labyrinth), and was ordered not to leave until he had raised Glaucus. Imagine the perplexity of Poliido: I guess so, but rise on the dead, just no! As reflected
saw a snake near the corpse of the child: the soothsayer killed him. Then came a second serpent, seeing the first snake died, moved away, came back with a herb which rubbed his companion, who immediately revived. Poliido took the grass, massaging it with the body of Glaucus, was able to resuscitate the child. Minos
proved once again far from the ideal of fair and honest with the king which made history: he refused to let go Poliido until he taught Glaucus the art of prophecy. A Poliido reluctantly completed the education of the child, but when he finally was allowed to leave, got into the ship that sailed into the mouth and spat Glauco: they lost all power of prophecy.

For once the king perjury had been played. But it was not the last ...

Some small notes ...
mythical ties between Crete and Athens are numerous: recall the myth of Androgeus and sending the victims to the Minotaur, then that of Theseus, the prince and then king of Athens, in love with a daughter of Minos and her husband a second daughter , while that of the bull then became the lover of Pasiphae bull of Marathon, to procreate, who attended the king from his curse sexual, daughter of King Erechtheus of Athens, that of King Nisus of Megara, who was born in Athens, while that of Daedalus , Athens to Crete to escape ... perhaps the only RPGs, the Royal Society Pseudo-Geogaphic could explore this topic with sufficient expertise.

According to a myth, the gods took pity and turned it into Scylla of heron. Nisus was changed into a sea eagle.

The myth of Glaucus would be drowned in the recollection of the custom Cretan honey to mummify the bodies of dead dipping, of course, honey.

According to some versions, Glauco would not have been resurrected thanks to Poliido, but directly by the supreme physician Asclepius, son of Apollo. Asclepius repeated the enterprise with Hippolytus, Theseus' son. Hades, lord of the dead, already tired of losing customers because of the great medical cures, did not tolerate that he be taken away even that which was already his: he complained to Zeus thundered his nephew. Asclepius
But then it would be resurrected as a god of healing.

Rosemary Wreath How To Make

MIGRATION - Corna, lies, perjury and two courts

We said that all Cretans are liars. Indeed. They said the Cretans themselves.
Among the various stories handed down more or less far-fetched that the other Greeks, we report that tells how Minos, who became king of Crete, in spite of his legendary Justice, refused to fulfill a vow he made, not sacrificed to Poseidon that God sent the bull from the sea to help his nephew to claim the throne.
Strange people these demi-gods: they who are children or descendants, are pretend not to know the touchiness and the implacable vengeance of God's own relatives. Minos perhaps rely on the protection of his father ... In fact, Poseidon
not retaliated directly on the treacherous nephew, preferring to use Pasiphae, the beautiful wife of Minos, the daughter of the Sun

The union between the two had been fruitful: Androgeus, Catreo, II Deucalion, Glaucus, Ariadne, Phaedra and other children were shown how the son of the bull-god bull had to read the force of his father.
Indeed, the king spared his attentions of any woman attractive island. Britomart chose to jump off a cliff just to escape the attentions of the king, while Periboea not lost his passion and the nymphs Paria Dessitea and gave him children.

To pique or jealousy, the lawful wife cursed Minos, and with success: each time the king had a sexual relationship, its members came from snakes and scorpions. We can imagine the satisfaction of the partners ...
Minos was saved thanks to procreate, that in exchange for some magical gifts (a dog that no prey could escape and an unerring javelin) agreed to give him the 'grass of Circe, which healed and the curse. Minos, perjury, perhaps he believed that everyone was like him, then forced Procris back guarantee or your money back ": it was Procris to share a bed with Minos and check (imagine the kind of apprehension) that the remedy was in fact effective.

Meanwhile Pasiphae (imagine) had to resign themselves to abstinence with the legitimate wife. Perhaps the queen was already distracted by other things: the effect of the wrath of Poseidon (though not excluding a vindictive action of Aphrodite), Pasiphae fell in love with the beautiful bull ... Yes, that's bull that the husband did not want to sacrifice.
A burning passion, of course, unquenchable, of course, unsatisfiable (sorry for the invention of language) even if not by the will of the lady. She was also willing, but there was the fact that the bull was well in the herd of Minos, was enjoying his harem and did not want (rightly) know of nothing that was not a cow. So
poor Pasiphae was dying of unrequited love.

But, as in the current era, where science meets nature prevents it. In Crete had taken refuge Daedalus, Athenian genius inventor who had killed his nephew Talos (a student who was already surpassing the master) by throwing it down from the Acropolis.

The inventor, as a good scientist, you do not put scruples of conscience: he wanted to see his genius prevail over a nature that was contrary to the will of man. So devised a hollow structure of wood covered with cowhide, so perfect as to deceive anyone. And the bull fooled: as was his custom when he saw a new cow, fell through, only this time the artificial being was ... and inside was hidden Pasiphae, so that he could see his desires satisfied.

sopresona Surprise, the queen became pregnant. But when the child was born, this was monstrous: he had the human body and the head of a bull!
The Minotaur, in fact.
mythographers I say that Minos was learned mating forbidden, and therefore ruled that the child could only be monstrous son of the bull. But we can not exclude that the king, after he son of a bull, had no doubt that this monstrosity was the fruit of his loins (perhaps as a side effect of snakes and scorpions). The fact is that Minos had already imposed on Daedalus not leave Crete for punishment (or perhaps admiration of his genius and thought to have him at your own service), and now forced to resolve the hot potato: do not kill the baby could (at the bottom was a punishment for perjury of the king, that was certain), but you could not even leave it around ...
So Daedalus conceived the famous Labyrinth of Crete, the house where the Minotaur, Asterion called, waiting for victims Minos would have caused.
But that was another matter, and did not stop the perjury of Minos.

Some small notes ...
It is said that Minos was the inventor of the homosexual relationship: the young Miles, Ganymede, and even the Athenian hero Theseus would have been her lovers.

The strange lover of Pasiphae could not enjoy his menagerie vaccine in peace: Heracles came from the mainland, another bastard Zeus. The hero, on behalf of his cousin Eurystheus, king of Mycenae, was to capture the Cretan bull to make one of his famous labors.
Minos agreed that the brother would capture the bull, Heracles and took him across the continent. Eurystheus then left in the animal freedom. The beast wandered the Peloponnese, Attica and the Isthmus bringing devastation, until his Theseus, "cousin" (it seems that his divine father was Poseidon, even though her father was human Aegean) captured him back to Marathon.

The Minotaur, half man and half bull, ate human flesh. Why half cow is a symbol carnivore is necessarily complex to explain ...

"The House of Asterion" is a story short, wonderful, Jose Luis Borges. Read it, as we invite you to read the entire production of the Argentine master of the fantastic: it's worth it.
